Aonishiki took the Makuuchi yusho at the 2026 Nagoya basho, beating Kirishima and Atamifuji in a three-way playoff after all three finished 12-3.

The sekiwake went 12-3 in regulation, with losses to Yoshinofuji, Kotoshoho, and Atamifuji on senshuraku. He also received the Gino-sho. It is his third Makuuchi championship, after Kyushu 2025 and Hatsu 2026.

Fighting-spirit prizes went to Atamifuji, Kotoeiho, and Takayasu. Fujinokawa took the Shukun-sho.
